Tips from people who've tried it
Nobody empties $997 billion by accident. These four habits make a real difference.
Go big first
The Nvidia production run ($7.2 billion), an AI data center ($5 billion) and the NFL ($3 billion) move the needle. Buy those before you bother with sneakers.
Save the fun stuff for the gaps
Yachts, islands and supercars barely register, but they make for a much better receipt. Sprinkle them in once the big items are in the cart.
Keep an eye on the percentage
The scoreboard tracks how much you've spent down to six decimal places, so you can watch even a small purchase nudge it.
Overshot? Sell something
Can't afford the next big thing? Sell a few small items. Sell refunds the full price, so nothing is ever lost.

No wheels allowed

The cheapest receipt
Reach the highest percentage spent using the fewest different items. Compare receipts at the end.

Short answers to the things people usually want to know before they start spending.
What is Spend Elon Musk Money?
It's a little spending simulator that runs in your browser. You start with an estimated $997 billion - Elon Musk's net worth in the game - and a countdown. Your job is to buy as much as you can before time runs out: AirPods, supercars, private islands, sports teams, even a data center full of AI chips.
We built it because huge numbers are hard to feel. A million, a billion and a trillion all sound like "a lot", but after a minute of shopping the difference suddenly makes sense.
Why is it so hard to spend that much?
Because the numbers are bigger than your instincts. A $1 million purchase is about 0.0001% of the fortune. Even a $3 billion NFL team only takes 0.3%, and a whole year of Nvidia GPU production, at $7.2 billion, is about 0.7%.
To get to zero you have to keep stacking the heavy hitters - data centers, sports teams, art and mega yachts - and keep one eye on the timer. Most people are surprised how much is still left when it ends.
How accurate are the prices?
They're rounded estimates, based on retail listings, manufacturer price lists and auction results, and simplified to keep the game fun. They are not quotes or financial information, so please don't use them to make real decisions.
Who is behind this?
This is an independent, fan-made project. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Elon Musk, Tesla, SpaceX, X or any of the other people and companies mentioned. The site is paid for by ads, and your game never leaves your browser - the only thing stored is your light or dark theme preference. You can read more in our privacy policy and terms.
